Your County - Putting Kent First

Kent 4 star Council

Kent Highway Services

Kent Highway Services is the part of Kent County Council that looks after the county's roads, pavements and cycleways.

We manage highway maintenance and we respond to highway emergencies 24 hours a day. We also monitor traffic, and use measures to reduce road congestion.

As well as the day-to-day running of the highway network, we also plan for Kent's transport future. We:

We work to increase road safety for all road users; through campaigns, training and traffic-calming measures. Right now, we have a target to cut road casualties by 40% through our Save 478 Lives campaign.

We also work with partners to provide an accessible and efficient public transport network, and support community transport services.

Kent's Local Transport Plan explains what our transport aims are, how we intend to achieve them, and when we will deliver them.

Kent Highway Services look after all the roads in Kent except the following, which are looked after by the Highways Agency:

How we work

We operate from two divisional offices and from our headquarters in Maidstone. This allows us to combine local transport knowledge with a consistent cross-county approach.

It is necessary to pay for some of the services we offer, to find out about these costs see our current list of charges.
